This lens is quite solidly built and is pretty cheap.

Now we've dispensed with the good points, lets move onto the bad.

One word comes to mind when talking about this lens: distortion. It's OK for images where you're either going to crop in tightly (sort of doing away with the need for a wideangle!), as the corners are horrible, particularly at 10mm. Skewed, pulled, softened and just badly distorted.

Lightroom 3 does a decent job of correcting the centre distortion, but the edges will always be a blur, nomatter what you do.

Ok, maybe I'm painting an unfairly negative picture of this lens. It's a fun lens, takes in a huge angle, and produces some nicely saturated skies with a DOF from about 1.5m to infinity. Great for landscapes on a budget.

If you want quality glass, you have no option but to fork out the big-bucks for a Nikon/Canon equivalent. It really is a case of you-get-what-you-pay-for.

I got the Sigma recently for a trip to Rome, lots of use for a good Wide angle. It basically stayed on the whole trip! Sharpness and detail were very impressive even as most shots were hand held indoors in low light. Solid construction and easy to use, great lens to have in the bag.
