The 70-200 f/4L is the cheapest of the 70-200 lens family from Canon, but is apparently the sharpest of the lot.
I use it mostly outdoors, and in those situations, a maximum aperture of f/4 is normally plenty, and I love the image quality it provides.
However, if you intend to do any indoor shooting in low-ish light, then a more expensive (and much heavier) f/2.8 variant might be more suitable.
