I recently rented this lens for a wedding I was shooting. It was a great lens to get nice shots of the whole room.

I bought the 35mm f/2 lens second-hand for a pretty good price, because I wanted something a bit closer to 50mm equivalent on a crop body, as I found a 50mm lens a little bit too long.
The 35mm f/2 lens is very small and light-weight (almost the same size as the 50mm f/1.8 lens). Focusing is a little noisy, but you can expect that from a cheap lens.
The bokeh is a little harsh, due to the 5 aperture blades, but you need to spend a lot more on the 35mm f/1.4 lens if you want something a bit smoother!
As far as value for money is concerned, I think the 35mm f/2 lens is great, and can certainly recommend it, particularly if you manage to buy it second-hand.
